The METABOL - Center for Metabolic Research - at the University of Cologne combines the expertise of the Faculty of Medicineand Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences to conduct fundamental research into metabolic diseases such as obesity and diabetes.

Around 120 scientists in 16 research groups are conducting interdisciplinary research into the underlying metabolic processes. The results are specifically incorporated into new prevention and therapy approaches.
